8 ways to convert more
I've audited 600 pages to give you 8 tips for conversion
Hey!
Let’s imagine you have a website.
Your homepage is getting 1000 visits per day, and you’re hoping that this traffic pushes through your core CTA.
You look at your analytics and the unique session → CTA click conversion is 15%.
Then you realize that some of your founder friends are seeing 36% conversion rates on a similar action.
WTH?
Don’t worry, I’ve got you.
I've analyzed 600+ landing pages and torn all my hair out trying to find core principles that just make you convert better.
Here are 8 unique tips:
1) Connector copy
Your copy should be crystal clear, yes.
But if you can weave in a smidgeon of personality, it'll read more smoothly.
2) Russian Dressing
Package things up in a couple of options, but not too many.
Two options gives you a choice.
Ten options make a choice nearly impossible.
3) Eyes up here
A user's eyes should naturally gravitate toward your call to action.
If they have to think to find it, you've lost the click more often than not.
4) Hop into the action
If it makes sense with your product, use the home page as a part of the app.
Plunge the user right into the workflow and get them habit-building.
5) Product embed
Show the product in action or embed an interactive module.
Users want to know what's on the "other side" of conversion. Don't shroud them in mystery about it.
6) Legit lead magnet
Most lead magnets on landing pages don't live up to the hype.
But a full chapter of a book?
An entire course worth paying for, free?
A free sample of your product, no strings attached?
That's worth joining a funnel for.
7) No-presh CTA
A lotta buttons out there ask you to:
Sign up right away
Give credit card details
Get to work building out a workspace
etc etc
What about a friendly brainstorm instead?
8) Comfortably numb(ered)
Numbers belong near the top of your page.
They just plain look different from letters, which makes them more likely to get read.
And they build trust better than just about any word that isn't straight from the customer's mouth.
Which tip above are you going to try first?
For founders and marketing leaders:
I run a biz called Pagetear where I write all the copy for your business.
Landing pages, emails, video scripts, Google ads, Meta ads, in-product copy, microcopy, and beyond.
Delivery (we’re talking large requests, like an entire landing page for example) every 48 hours.
P.S. I also do one-off custom projects if you don’t need on-going copy support.
